One thing I love about our company is our getaways! We always have one or two getaways every summer and one between August to November which is our Team Building. This year, our destination was in Laiya, San Juan, Batangas. Laiya is known because of its beaches and since it’s near the Metro– my main concern was the place might be too crowded.
We departed from Ortigas at 7AM and arrived in Laiya at 12NN. There are a lot of resorts in the said province but we opted to stay at Laiya Coco Grove. We were welcomed by their very accomodating staff who gave us some refreshments.
Upon entering the resort– I was really shocked with what I saw. The place was really beautiful– it actually exceeded my expectations. You’ll notice that there are a lot of coconut trees in the area. During our stay, the sun was too bright but it added colors to the ambiance, plus the clouds were visible and fluffy.
Luckily, the beach was on high tide during our stay that’s why we really appreciated the white sand and the clear waters of Laiya.
After settling our accounts, a staff guided us to our rooms. One thing special about the resort is their tree house. It was always my dream to live in a tree house that’s why I found this part really exciting. I don’t have pictures of the tree house but just to give you an idea.. I grabbed photos from Google lol
We took a nap for a while and went out at 3PM. I know that it’s extremely hot during that time but we all wanted to enjoy the beach. We were only allowed to swim up to 6 in the evening so might as well make the most out of it. But before I played with the waves, I used this opportunity to take some shots. I can’t let go of this beauty!
And of course, my mandatory shots lol

All in all, Laiya Coco Grove is an awesome resort for me. I love their staff for they were so accommodating. They even gave us the driver’s quarter (good for 2 pax) for free! If there’s one thing I was not quite satisfied, that was the buffet meals served– especially the buffet we had for lunch. Buffet dinner and breakfast were okay, though.
Just a tip if you’re planning to go to Laiya Coco Grove or any resorts in Laiya:
1. Book earlier. Hotel accommodations are in demand during summer. For Laiya Coco Grove, you can contact their Manila office and look for Ms. KB or any of their hotel reservations staff.
2. Try going there on a weekday to avoid the crowd and to enjoy the beach more.
3. If you’re coming from Manila, I suggest to go a little earlier. I thought 7AM was too early for us. But then, it took us almost 5 hours before arriving to Laiya.
4. If you’re coming somewhere South (i.e. my hometown in Cavite), the travel time would just take approximately 2 to 2.5. It’s still advisable to go early to avoid unexpected traffic.
